PILGRIMAGE
An exhibition of inspirational paintings by Diane Mathias & Helen Elliott at the newly refurbished and reopened Cardigan Guildhall. To be opened by Rev.Rhidian Jones(sometime Bishop’s vicar and Succentor of St David’s Cathederal). On Sunday 12th July, 6pm. All are welcome.
Diane and Helen have been painting and exhibiting together for the last 5 years. Both are well known artists with international reputations.Inspired by their love of the local landscape and their Christian belief, each year they have showcased their work, combining a use of the written word and the visual image. In this year’s exhibition they have developed  a modern twist on the ancient theme of ‘Pilgrimage’,  taking the viewer on a journey through some of the special and sacred places of this land of West Wales.  Some images are of the well known ‘sacred places’ and some are special to the artists, whilst others portray places where people, both in the past and present times, have experienced God’s presence. The pictures are accompanied by short introductory writings, poems or verses. This year is a special year as we are amongst the first artists to show in the newly refurbished Cardigan Guildhall, said Helen. We are proud to be able to bring this exhibition back to our home community.Diane recently had the privilege of meeting with Revend Rhidian Jones of Aberaeron, who  writes poetry based on his own Christian belief, and is particularly inspired by the concept of ‘Pilgrimage’, and as a result of this shared inspiration, has kindly agreed to open the exhibition, on July 12th.
